Online Roulette: A Guide for Beginners

American Roulette for real moneyRoulette is a game of chance where the dealer, also refer to as croupier spins the roulette wheel, a spin that will determine your fate, whether you win or lose. The dealer releases a small metallic ball into the wheel until it loses the momentum and lands in a certain pocket. This pocket can either be red, black or green, and may contain odd or even numbers. In order to win the bet, the player should make a prediction as to where the ball will land.

Nowadays, there are myriad versions of online roulette available for gamers to play. Online roulette can be divided into three separate categories including French Roulette, American Roulette, and European Roulette.

How Does American Roulette Differ From European Roulette?

The key difference between American Roulette and European Roulette is that there are double zeroes (00) in American version while only a single zero in the European version. This is the reason American Roulette is popularly referred to as Double Zero Roulette.

The inclusion of single and double zeroes presents numerous betting options to players as compared to other variations in online roulette. It is interesting to note that extra zero in the American Roulette changes your odds of winning. This is because the European roulette, the house has a 2.7% advantage, and in the American version, the house has a 5.3% advantage, which in turn makes American Roulette trickier to win than European Roulette and French Roulette.

The odds of winning on any European wheel outside bet with a 1:1 payout is 48.65%; however, the percentile chance on an American wheel is 47.37%. The additional 00 pocket in the wheel means that the ball has more chance of landing into a place other than where you placed your bet; thus reducing your chances to win.
